High profitability of leasing land for a solar park

By leasing land for a solar park, you not only contribute to enabling a larger share of green fossil-free electricity in the Swedish electricity system, it is also a way to create profitability in low-productive land.

Increase the value of your land

Many farms today have land that cannot be farmed or is not used optimally for other reasons. There are opportunities to create a higher profitability by leasing out to a solar park. We are mainly looking for easy-to-work land in southern and central Sweden, but we don’t rule out any land before taking a good look at the conditions.

Both small and large lands of interest

Getting to scale is a prerequisite for building competitive solar parks. For this, we need at least 10 hectares of land, which in turn provides the opportunity to build a solar park of about five megawatts. However, we are also looking at smaller parcels as smaller parks can be connected to each other and thus still provide great value to the grid. Either way, the land should be located close to the sea and large lakes where it is usually sunnier than inland.

Easy-to-work soil makes the job go fast

Soil that is easy to pile up is desirable, as the assembly equipment is piled into the ground at a depth of around one and a half meters (exact dimensions depend on the firmness of the soil). The easier it is to drive piles into the ground, the better for the economics of the project. For example, if there is a lot of rock in the ground, work stops and sometimes concrete foundations have to be added.

Proximity to grid station

The electricity produced by a solar farm is connected to the local grid as a production contract. It is therefore important that the land is also close to existing grid stations to avoid costly cabling. Another important prerequisite is that the grid station itself has connection capacity.

Solar energy will have an obvious role in the future Swedish electricity system. Today, hydropower is responsible for much of the regulation to deal with rising electricity consumption during the day. Here, solar energy can relieve pressure on the grid as it produces electricity during the light part of the day when we are active. With lots of solar energy in the summer, we can also save on hydropower and go into the winter with full reservoirs.

Example

Below you will find references and examples of recent solar farm installations we have done.

I can highly recommend Energy Engagement. Good design, professionally executed installation and the plant produces something more than forecast when I check the first year production.
Very professional at all stages. very happy with everything. Promised kWh is good (almost in year 3). Knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Highly recommended!
I believe that the facility is one of the best investments we have made. I estimate that we will reduce our electricity costs by up to 50% on an annual basis.
